San Diego Botanic Garden

Walk along

Changing locations offers a second chance

I thought I was done with flowers for the year. If I stayed home I would have been. It is almost time for snow.

Flowers were not the first thing I thought of when I decided to travel from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States. But, I spent part of a day at the San Diego Botanic Garden. I was offered a second chance at flowers.

The time zone is three hours behind, the weather seems about three months behind too! The garden had four miles of trails and sections to represent different countries. Here are some of the most interesting specimens.

Well, these first ones are kind of ordinary but I expected to wait at least six months to witness such beauty on the East Coast. So, they caught my interest.

Some of the specimens were new to me and required their own photoshoots.

Someone with a fancy camera was focusing on these palm seeds so I checked them out myself.

The feathery leaves of this tree overhead were interesting.

The shadows on the steps reminded me of sun prints.

This plant stretched far overhead. The full bloom is sure to be magnificent.

And, after a short climb, a nice rest on the overlook with an ocean view.

Final Thoughts

This second chance at beauty has happened to me once before. It was a second chance sunset. I was on a boat and the landscape offered a beautiful sunset. Then, to my surprise, the elevation of the surrounding area shifted, and all of a sudden, the sun was setting again.

A second chance is always a great surprise. It is all the more awe-inspiring because it is not expected.

Here is a second chance for you to see the corpse flower and bamboo forest, they got their own stories.

Thanks for reading. I hope everyone finds awe-filled adventures and second chances to admire nature’s beauty.
