Wonderful waters! But where is the village? Just overhead, nestled at the foot of the cliffs. Have a look at the picture below.
Yes, Saint-Chély du Tarn is a gorgeous, stupendous village in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn. You reach it through a small tunnel, then across the Tarn River on its single-arch bridge.
Before enjoying the emerald green waters in a heavenly setting, you discover the narrow streets of this medieval village. The Chapelle de Cénaret stands at the grotto entrance, from where you can see the water flow to the outside, forming beautiful waterfalls.
I don’t know if a priest ever blessed the water there or could do so.
But if so, bathing in these waters would then take you to heaven, for sure!
