Abstract

The poem "S.H.E: An African Woman Tribute" is a lyrical homage that captures the spirit of African womanhood through a blend of powerful imagery and evocative language. It begins by setting the scene with a drummer whose beats create an energetic atmosphere, followed by the emergence of a dancer who embodies grace and majesty. The poem describes the dancer's regal appearance, adorned with a headwrap and African gold, and her physical attributes are celebrated as features of a masterful creation. The dance itself is a harmonious interaction with the drumbeat, showcasing the dancer's beauty and strength. The drumbeats sound a soulful beat The spotlight moves to a drummer east His energetic arms a skillful beast His power transferred to the drumbeat feast

The spotlight moves to a vision west A dancer rises like a glorious sphinx Her steps so light she fairly floats The epitome of beauty her majestic sight

A headwrap set like a queenly crown Her arms adorned with African gold Her form created by a master sculptor A dark rare earth collection

Deep-set eyes, a chiseled nose, thick lips, and high cheekbones A majestic neck and stately breasts, lithe arms, and swaying hips Strong chin and head held high, Thick thighs and shapely legs, She strikes a pose to begin and signals the drummer queue in

She moves in unison with the drumbeat feast Her steps so slight she sways like light A vision of beauty. A paragon of strength The African queen rises and takes her place

No one dare challenge her dancefloor stage Her steps follow the quickening drumbeat feast She jumps on stage as the spotlight meets Swaying, stepping, jumping, glowing Gyrating, flowing, twisting, winding

The African queen is S.H.E Her Swag is Heavy with Essence An epitome of beauty S.H.E A pillar of grandeur S.H.E

She is Swag She is Heavy She is Essence
