PROMPT
Rx for Doubt
The easiest way to stop self-doubt in its tracks
When Doubt comes to visit, kicking my self-confidence out of sight and off the path, it’s my invisible judge, residing in shadows, who makes Doubt the welcomed guest.
Ganging up against me, Doubt and Judge smirk and shoot my ideas down with a ‘silly, stupid, you can’t do that”.
And for years, decades, I listened. But not anymore.
Two years ago, while flying high above the clouds. I accidentally discovered a new mantra, long overdue.
A seemingly impossible remedy to heal decades of self-doubt, to remove scars of negative self-judgment; seemingly impossible because it sounded too good to be true.
But it works. Sometimes the simplest is the best.
Now, when Doubt tries to knock me down, aiming at my mind or heart with little zingers to cut deeply, I’ve a wickedly easy routine guaranteed to have them leaving within a minute.
I close my eyes, give myself a “thumb’s up” sign and whisper, “You’ve got this, girl. You own it, It’s yours.”
I repeat it and repeat it until Doubt is gone.
The more frequently I’ve used this phrase, the more self-confident I have become, as I encounter situations that previously had me quaking in my cute, out-dated, proverbial boots.
“You’ve got this, girl; you own it. It’s yours.”
And it works. Time and again.
Sometimes the simplest idea is the most powerful.
aiming at my mind and heart with little zingers that could cut deeply
I repeat it as I walk up to the microphone, repeat it as I pay the bills and trust there’s a way to keep it all together, repeat it when I’m thinking I’d rather hibernate than try again.
