Russia’s War Against Ukraine — Let the Russian People Know the Truth
Why this Facebook group? — I want to create a space where people in Russia and elsewhere can find reliable, truthful information.
I’m shocked and angry!
In recent years, I had begun to think that war is a deceptive way of resolving disagreement and an outdated means of achieving political goals. I based this view on the fact that we in the world have not had major international wars for decades now. But that was before February 24, 2022, and I’m simply shocked by what’s happening in Ukraine these days.
Putin’s aggressive attack on Ukraine has heartbreaking consequences and is rightly condemned all over the world. In this terrible war, Russia is using rockets and other brutal weapons of attack against innocent people in Ukraine — children, women and men who have only one wish: to live in peace! Putin’s Russia is in the process of turning many cities in Ukraine into bombed-out piles of broken building materials.
What happened on February 24, 2022, when Russia unprovokedly launched a military attack on neighboring Ukraine, is totally unacceptable and it is almost unbelievable that this could happen. But it is happening, and so far hundreds of Ukrainian civilians and military personnel, and thousands of Russian soldiers have lost their lives in this completely unnecessary war.
I know that millions of people around the world are as angry and shocked as I am and I despair that it is still possible today in 2022 for a despot like Putin to hide the truth and manipulate large sections of the Russian people to accept that it’s okay to go to war against a neighboring country.
Like many others, I have reacted with dismay to President Putin’s actions, and besides creating this group, writing stories on Medium is my way of taking over and reacting to this catastrophe.
I have created the public group “Russia’s War Against Ukraine — the Truth” on Facebook.
This group currently has one member. If you are interested in reading and writing about the crisis in Ukraine and about Putin’s actions and atrocities, then you are welcome to join here.
This is a public group and the only thing required of posts in the group is that they respect the truth and actually promote the truth and thus strengthen the cause of the Ukrainian people in this huge crisis.
