Running with a Knee Band Issue
A Stubborn Journey

Yep, I’m lacing up my running shoes again. I have always found running important. It was an essential part of my vision of being all-round fit.
However, due to a knee injury that I sustained while exercising about 1.5 years ago, running has never been the same for me. Unfortunately, it was always accompanied by persistent pain.
Since then, running has been like that ex who you can’t get over — it hurts, but you can’t let go.
Now, you might be thinking, “Why the hell would you start running again?” Well, it’s simple. I refuse to believe that I’m done.
Screw that.
Yeah, I’m stubborn — never went to a physiotherapist for this. It’s not pride, perhaps more leaning towards stupidity. I just want to wrestle this beast on my own.
Not the brightest idea, I know. Do as I say, not as I do, right?
So, I’m starting from scratch. Like I’ve never run before. It’s all about testing the waters, seeing when or if things start to go south again.
I’ve also been doing a ton of burpees lately. Those suckers work your legs too, so I’m convinced my knee’s gotten a bit tougher.
The weird part? I can bike or hike for miles without any pain. So, if running starts to bite back, I’ll switch to more walking and biking. Gotta keep strengthening that knee until it’s ready to run again.
Today’s session was a mix of running and walking. No pain, though. Details:
- 2 minutes of running, 1 minute of walking.
- 1 minute of running, 1 minute of walking.
- 2 minutes of running, 1 minute of walking.
- 1 minute of running, 1 minute of walking.
- 1 minute of running, 1 minute of walking.
- 1 minute of running, 1 minute of walking.

For my readers who are used to other metrics:
- Distance: 2.03 km -> Approximately 1.26 miles
- Average pace: 6:52 /km -> Approximately 11:03 per mile
- Moving time: 13:55 minutes
- Steps: 1,822
The only advice I actually DO wanna give you is that you absolutely should not give up. Life is full of setbacks and if we just have to accept everything… Well, fill in the rest yourself. Keep doing what you can. And yes, if I have completely lost hope, I will go to the physiotherapist, deal?
