Rudyard Kipling Sitting In India And Writing Jungle Book Was Right About Wolves
Animals have empathy like humans
The Jungle Book is a story set in the Jungles in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is about Mowgli, a boy cared for and brought up by wolves. Reading it long ago in school, I was amazed. I did visit the Corbett National Park in school, the setting of Jungle Book.
I always wondered if these animals could be kind to humans. Then reading about human behavior came across Darwin’s observation. He believed humans, and animals have similar behaviors. Now looking at Facebook I found this post that shows Natives having pet wolves.
I wonder if humans are the only selectively hostile species who chose to kill their own, for property. As Mowgli says, “In the Jungle you only kill when hungry.”
Thank you for reading.
