Ruby’s Fairy Tales — David — Part 3

Previously on Ruby’s Fairy Tales — David Part 2
Returning the spotless Jaguar to its place in the spacious garage, Ruby helped a barely conscious David stumble into the adjoining room. She placed a soft travel pillow under his head, took his dress shoes off, and covered him with a blanket. He would be out at least until morning. Dimming the lights from her phone, she locked the door as she strode to the house, stilettos in hand, to wait for the funds to transfer to her foreign account.
Bare feet silently padding across the white marble floor, she grabbed the marinated steak and asparagus from the refrigerator as the grill heated on the deck. While she piled her curls in a messy bun atop her head, she flipped down a hidden screen in the kitchen. Tapping a few times on her phone, an image of sleeping David appeared.
Seated at the island with her supper a short time later, Ruby opened her business email to a new notification from the current client.
Funds wired. DNA proof requested upon completion.
Taking a bite of tender steak, she opened her foreign bank account, verifying the funds were there, then transferred them to a different foreign account. Satisfied all was in order, she responded to the client she would overnight proof of DNA. Glancing at David’s peaceful form, she finished her supper and cleaned the kitchen before returning to the small room off the garage.
“Let’s get you out of these clothes David.”
Grabbing two small glass vials, Ruby plucked several of David’s hairs, placing them in the miniature tubes and sealing them with stoppers. Folding the blanket and setting it aside, she proceeded to undress him, tossing his clothing in a pile by the door.
She entered a code behind a hidden panel which set off a series of events, like dominoes falling into place. The back of the plush couch slid to the side which moved the seated cushions closer to the wall. Panels in the wainscoting sunk into the wall and then magically flowed to the side revealing a glowing, metal chute. The heat from the chute brushed against her skin, turning her cheeks rosy. Grabbing a needle from the hidden panel, Ruby injected the clear liquid into David’s body.
She watched as his breathing slowed, then halted altogether. Leaning down, she gently kissed his cheek before firmly pressing a secret button buried within the couch, only accessible at this moment. The couch cushions raised at an angle causing David to spill into and down the chute.
A few hours later, Ruby methodically collected a small amount of ashes in another glass vial, the remaining ashes into a flat bottomed, glass orb. Taking the orb and a vial of hair, she entered a code revealing a hidden door.
At the bottom of the winding stairs were several rooms, each with glimmering black and gold lock boxes in the soft lighting. She pulled a small door open, setting the ash-filled orb and vial of hair inside. Hearing the lock click into place after closing the door, she slid his cream card into the golden holder on the door.
Ruby turned towards the fireplace, “Gram, I brought someone to keep you company.”
Then she put the small vials of ashes and hair with her business card (below) in a small box to be delivered overnight.
