Ruby’s Fairy Tales — David — Part 1
24 of 💯 Tale 1 — Life is a gamble

Glancing at the cream card in her well-manicured hand, red painted nails skimmed the man’s information she’d spent weeks acquiring one last time. Leaning over the black, sparkling marble counter, she flawlessly completed her natural make-up look with eyeliner and mascara to catch David’s eye. Standing to her full height, she checked the ruby red lipstick and ran slender fingers through long, black walnut curls.
Before leaving to meet him, she checked her business email for any further contact from her client. Seeing none, she stole one last glimpse in the large, silver framed mirror stretching the distance of the wall. Ruby adjusted the single diamond necklace resting in the suprasternal notch between her collarbones. “Business as usual.” Blowing her reflection a sultry kiss, she grabbed her black handbag and locked up the house.
Ruby slid into the leather seat of the black Jaguar, the new car scent mingling with her delicate perfume. Pulling out of the spacious multi-car garage, she sped down the paved drive, shifting with ease. Tuning the radio to a classical music station, she drove to the casino.
Ignoring the open stares of men, Ruby sashayed past gambling tables, her short red dress flowing with each step of her black stilettos. Spotting David at a poker table, she observed the game, catching his gaze devouring her and losing his concentration. When a seat opened up and she proceeded to show each player she was not just a pretty face.
Two hours later, Ruby gathered her winnings and stood to leave. David had barely taken his eyes off her to look at his cards, losing all he began with. “Ladies, gents, thank you, and have a lovely night.” With that, she turned and strode away, curls bouncing.
“Hey! Aren’t you going to let me try to win my money back?”
Smiling at his voice, she turned, cocking her head in thought as she eyed his crooked and loosened tie, discarded jacket, and playful gaze.
“I suppose I could let you take me out for coffee.” Her dark chocolate eyes followed his hurried movements, as he gathered his suit jacket and strode towards her. “Meet me at the Coffee Craft.” With that she turned towards the ornate, glass entry doors, passing handfuls of chips to random shocked people along the way.
David’s jaw hung open in disbelief as this alluring woman gave away all her winnings. His interest piqued, even more, he left the casino in full pursuit.

This is my twist on Little Red Riding Hood. Why do I call this Ruby’s Fairy Tales? Because the definition of a fairy tale is a fabricated story, especially one intended to deceive. Enjoy the ride!!
