Rox the Troll
Have you ever thought about NOT paying the toll?
“So what’ll it be, human?”
James stood in the middle of the rickety stone bridge crossing the raging river below. The menacing troll Rox blocking his path was demanding payment to get across.
“Sorry, I have no money,” he said flatly.
Rox pointed at James’ pocket, closing his eyes and growling “Locket!”
Damn psychic third eye! Bridge trolls were the absolute worst! James grabbed the gold locket and tossed it over the bridge, sending it rocketing into Rox’s thick greedy hands.
James spun around on the spot, stealthily drawing his slingshot and sending two smooth stones cleverly careening towards the troll’s ugly, unprepared face.
They collided with a satisfying “crack!” into the troll’s sunken eye sockets.
Rox yowled with pain and anger. James took the opportunity to dart past the now-blind troll, sprinting off into the safety of the forest towards his homeland.
“Wait!” Rox screamed, stretching out his arm in the direction of the retreating footsteps.
“You forgot your change!”
