Roots of Resilience: A Tale of Weed Taming
Tell me why the frost can kill everything but my weeds.
I should have made my flower beds smaller, but you don't think about the weeds when you are joyously planting all your pretty colored blossoms.
It's time to start again when I go from one end of the bed to the other. They are a persistent nuisance, but I would continue to pull weeds if it meant giving up my flowers.
And the best bonus of all is that the flowers bring butterflies and hummingbirds to my yard. I could while away time just watching them go from flower to flower.
That's a plus for writing on Medium; I can do both.
I hate to admit that weeds do serve a purpose. Despite their negative reputation, they play a crucial ecological role. They stabilize soil and prevent erosion, especially on slopes and areas prone to runoff.
But none of these things exist in my flower garden!
So the moral of this story is; I will pull the damn weeds.
