Rolling into Spring: Foodieland & Breathtaking Views (Nomad Life)
Spring has sprung, and the air is electric with excitement! I’m camped out in my van in North Las Vegas, and guess what? There’s an Aloha Festival happening right within walking distance. I had no idea until a friendly Hawaiian woman stopped me while I was taking a stroll in the park and gave me the lowdown on the three-day event.

I checked out the website and already picked out the food trucks I want to hit up. The scents of the festival are teasing my nose, and the beats in the air has got me swaying my hips.
I’m the kind of person who loves to break out into song and dance, regardless of my singing abilities (or lack thereof). When I decided to embrace Nomad Life at age 50, I promised myself to live more authentically and freely, and that means doing whatever I feel.
I love living in my van, but it’s not always easy. On the good days, though, it’s like nothing else compares. I live for moments like these, where I can just let loose and be myself.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons, tied with fall and summer. I’m just basking in the beautiful weather today. The gentle breeze keeps giving me sweet kisses on the cheek, and I can’t get enough! Muah. Muah. Muah.
I wish I could bottle this weather and use it when needed, which would be every day in winter. #teamboycottwinter
My nomad journey has taken me to so many interesting places, and I’m always looking for new adventures. Last weekend, I was in Summerlin, Nevada, and the view from Red Rock Canyon was breathtaking. I could see what looked like million-dollar homes, and it’s crazy to think that I have the same view from my van for free!

Two weekends ago, I checked out Foodieland in Las Vegas, and it was an experience to remember. With almost 175 vendors, from food booths to arts and crafts, games, and entertainment, it was a multicultural food event inspired by the Asian night markets. The food was a tantalizing explosion of flavors from soul food to seafood, Mexican, and every Asian dish imaginable.
The food was incredibly good, but it wasn’t cheap. I saw many working-class families who looked happy, and I was happy for them too, but I also wondered how they managed to afford attending the festival.
I live in a van to be able to travel and attend events like this.
Soon I’ll be moving on to my next destination. I can’t help but feel grateful for the experiences I’m having on my nomad journey. From food festivals to scenic vistas, I’ve seen and done things I’ve dreamed about.

One of the most important things I’ve learned along the way is the power of the “R” words.
Reflecting on my life, recharging my energy, renewing my spirit, and restoring my sense of purpose have all helped me to live more fully and authentically.
Oh, how I love “R”Words

I encourage you to try the “R” words too. Take some time to reflect on your life, recharge your batteries, renew your sense of purpose, and restore your spirit. You don’t have to travel the world to do it — you can start right where you are with the Spring season being the perfect time to do so.
Try doing just one “R” word per day, and see how it affects your life. You might be surprised at how much more joyful and fulfilling each day can be.
Remember, life is a journey, and we all have the power to make it a great one. Embrace the “R” words and make the most of every moment.
