Robin Hood King of Thieves
The Valentine’s Day Masked Ball and the Heist of the Crystal Heart Diamond
Out of the mysterious and magical lands of Asia Minor,
Came the most valuable Diamond in the world,
The Crystal heart Diamond the largest ever seen,
Discovered in the Crystal Heart Valleys of Parbat Nagin,
The largest, the brightest, and most precious stone,
A gift from the powerful Sultan Salatin,
To the wicked and evil Sheriff of Nottingham,
For the hand of the most beautiful Maid Marian.
The Masked ball was planned with great fanfare,
As the streets were decorated with buntings and balloons,
And musicians played a hundred lovely tunes,
The poor were chased out of their homes into the forests.
There could not be any show of filth and poverty,
To fall on the eyes of distinguished visiting royalty.
The deep, dark, and vast forests of Sherwood,
Were rich with the most beautiful trees in the nation,
With numerous exotic varieties of luxuriant vegetation.
These forests were not for the wealthy and the rich,
But for the old, poor, weak, and weary.
It was the home of that King of Thieves,
Who had made his haunt in the thick jungle wood,
He was dreaded by the Rich, the bold Robin Hood.
Sherwood was alive with activity and unrest,
As the poorest of Nottingham entered the forest,
Guided through the jungle tracks and the forests glen,
To shelter themselves from the fury of the Sheriff and his men.
Robin’s hunters, arrow-men, and their families gave the peasants food and water,
Taking care of every family, every son, and every daughter.
Marian looked out through her captive window,
Every second of every hour,
In the tall castle tower.
Imprisoned by the Sheriff’s Guardsmen,
Held hostage against her desire and will,
Pledged to the evil Sultan Salatin,
Though her heart was always with Robin,
A moment with Robin was an eternity,
Their love was always meant to be.
Robin watched as his new member
Opened his chest of magic and tricks,
It was filled with ropes, crystals, and magic sticks.
Magic Chang was the man’s given name,
He escaped a Slave ship a few months ago,
He was a magician, with no one to blame.
Robin gave him food and shelter,
As Magic Chang had a special Gift,
He could make things appear and disappear at will,
He also had the power to become invisible.
But, Robin knew the secret behind the sparkle and the glimmers,
It was all well-crafted magic of smoke and mirrors.
Magic Chang raised his hand and smiled,
As he held a triangle in his hand,
With shiny mirrors and a silver wall,
It looked like a shimmering crystal.
The Masked ball was filled with fun and laughter,
Nobles, Lords and Ladies, Counts and Countesses,
Were all smartly dressed in colorful costumes,
Where every person was a mystery,
And no one knew the other’s name,
With masks to hide behind an evil pallid face,
To move within the social circles of power and fame.
This was the perfect event for Robin to make his move,
As the dancers, musicians were getting into the groove.
The evil Guest and his equally villainous host,
The dreaded and avaricious Sultan Salatin,
An old and wicked creature with a large belly,
Larger whiskers, who thrived on lust, power, whisky, and gin.
The friendly pair were enraptured with the belly dancers,
Who was part of the Sultan’s entertainment,
Along with the entertainers flown in from the Orient.
There were clowns, fire-eaters, acrobats, horses,
Evil magicians casting spells and nightmares like Rasputin,
Tigers, elephants, with food from around the world,
For Valentine’s night of song, dance, and sin,
For the two villains, the Sheriff of Nottingham and Sultan Salatin.
The streets of Nottingham were deserted,
And the shops were empty and bare,
There were no happy children playing,
There was only misery and poverty here.
The people of Nottingham were cast into the wood,
Finding shelter and solace with the King of Thieves,
Dreaded by the wealthy, the Outlaw Robin Hood.
Maid Marian’s heart was wildly beating,
Like a crazy drummer in the pouring rain,
She had spotted a few of Robin’s men,
She was hoping that Robin was close by,
With a cunning and masterful plan,
To help her escape a life of slavery, sin, and doom,
To save her from the claws of the villainous Sultan,
The vilest and terrible monstrosity in the ballroom.
The news of the Sultan’s evil had spread across the land,
Across mountains, oceans, forests, and desert sands.
The Crystal Heart Diamond was shiny and bright,
As it glistened on the pedestal top,
In the center of the large and busy Castle Hall,
The Sultan’s generous Dowry for the hand of Marian,
Sent sparkles and reflections to every concrete wall.
The couples danced to music and the illumination,
As musicians performed from every nation.
Nottingham Castle was festive and bright,
There were jugglers, there were dancers,
There were fire-eaters and there was light,
There was food, drinks, and costumes bright.
Suddenly, out of the open sky blue,
A flock of a thousand wild screaming geese,
Flying towards the castle walls came into view.
There was chaos and there was destruction,
As the birds wreak havoc, in the castle within.
There were chaos and confusion in the dance hall,
There was music still playing, dancers still dancing,
As the birds flew over the heads of dancers,
And fed on the large tables of an extravagant feast,
Reserved for the princes, noble, the friar, and the priest.
The Archers took out their long-bows,
To shoot the savage birds in flight,
But there were too many in the room and sky,
To shoot down in the evening light,
As the setting sun caught the Archer’s eye.
In the blink of an eye and in the sound of a tiny tweak,
A large flying bird picked up the large Diamond stone in its beak,
And flew out of the window, into the skies of the crimson light,
And disappeared into the magical evening of a Valentine twilight.
Robin Hood sailed down a rope into the Castle Hall,
Lifted the lovely Maid Marian in his arms,
Then sailed above the guards, the Sheriff and the Sultan,
To carry his beloved on to a waiting horse and caravan.
Robin looked behind and saw that Magic Chang,
Had worked his magic yet again,
As the large bells rang to alert Nottingham,
That Robin, the King of Thieves had struck yet again,
And taken away precious silver and gold in his loot,
Leaving behind smashed bottles of wine and overripe fruit.
Magic Chang had charmed the birds,
With mysterious tunes on his magic flute,
and made them steal the Crystal Heart Diamond
for Robin Hood and his band of arrow-men,
from the hands of the rich to the homes of the poor,
from the villages, towns and the forest glen.
This was not just any ordinary tryst,
It was the Nottingham Crystal Heart Diamond heist.
The Sheriff of Nottingham cursed Robin Hood,
Wishing that he could have his head on a plate,
He wished him the most terrible fate.
Was he never going to catch that thief?
He had stolen the Sultan’s diamond gift,
Leaving him empty coffers and injured pride
And fury, no amount of wine could quench or hide.
An angry Sultan cursed him and the Hood,
Wishing that he could chop him into blocks of wood.
But, as the two villains were brothers till the end,
The Sheriff made a gift of gold to the Sultan,
And another laced with wine and sin,
A harem of twelve beautiful women.
Having been denied the Maid Marian, with her deep green eyes,
The Sultan agreed to take another village girl, as his royal prize.
Later that night as the sunset in the sky,
There was Valentine’s day party in Sherwood,
Like no other Valentine party has ever seen in the land,
With dancing, music and good food,
From the Sheriff’s table and coffers of gold,
The King of Thieves had won yet again,
And saved Maid Marian from a life of sin and pain.
It was a Valentine’s Day of love and laughter,
As Friar tuck dipped into the best roast and wine,
Love and romance filled the warm Sherwood forest air,
As Robin did his Valentine dance,
In the open forest green, in the tender twilight,
With Maid Marian on his arm,
And in a loving embrace, they danced into the night.
The lovely Marian kissed him,
It was her special gift and art,
Close to the warm comforting fire,
To kindle and stir the flames in her lover’s heart.
In the magical forest of Sherwood,
There was not only love, but there was also hope and care,
The romance of magic and love filled the air,
No evil Sheriff or wicked Sultan could spoil the day,
Valentine’s day, romance, and love are here to stay.
