Road Trip With a Dog
Oh! The incredible joy! The excitement!
Chandra sat in the middle of the back seat of the car. She was not in a car seat despite the fact that she was only seven years old. No seat belt restrained her. Her gaze was fixed squarely towards the windshield of the car and the land zooming by. Her tongue hung out of her mouth as she panted.
In the two front seats of the rent-a-car were Brian and Kami. Brian was driving. Kami was wondering why the hell she agreed to come on this trip.
Brian suddenly started slowing down.
Kami looked at him, “What? What are you doing?”
“There’s a bridge up ahead. It looks like it goes over an arroyo. And there is a little spot there on the side of the road. It looks like there is parking. I’m sensing that Chandra needs to pee.”
Seriously? thought Kami. You can sense when the fucking dog has to pee but you can’t sense when I have to pee? Are you more in tune with the dog’s girl parts than mine? Seriously?
Slowing down even more, Brian pulled the car into the dirt parking area. He was excited because the area seemed totally wild.
“Uh, Brian….”
“Yeah?”
“I’ve gotta pee, too.”
“Uh…. oh…. uh…. well…. that arroyo seems to be significantly lower than the highway and we can probably pee in private.”
Seriously?
Brian brought the rent-a-car to a stop amidst a small cloud of dust in the dirt parking lot.
In the front seats, seatbelts were quickly unleashed and doors quickly opened. Brian quickly moved his seat forward so that Chandra could jump out of the car.
Chandra almost immediately peed then ran at full speed toward the arroyo. Brian and Kami walked slowly down towards the arroyo.
“Isn’t this fucking awesome?” asked Brian.
Clutching six sleeves of Kleenex in her left hand, Kami replied, “Yeah, this is a fucking parade.”
They followed a path that led down into the arroyo. Each step took them under the view of passing motorists. Their descent took them past the wandering eyes of humankind.
Chandra was completely out of sight. Surely she was running at full speed through Mother Nature. Surely she was experiencing being a dog unrestrained, free to be herself.
Near the bottom of the arroyo Brian climbed onto a rock that protruded out over the arroyo. He immediately unzipped his jeans and pulled out his penis. With a deep sigh he began peeing into the arroyo. His stream poured down a good ten feet and splattered over numerous rocks.
Kami looked at Brian and then his penis and then the stream of his urine that gushed forth into Mother Nature’s restroom. She quickly looked away and proceeded further down the arroyo.
After about ten minutes of nature walking she found a little recess in the wall of the arroyo. She climbed up to a point where she was invisible to the world. She pulled her jeans and panties down below her knees and leaned back in a sitting position against the rock wall of the side of the arroyo. She let forth a stream of urine that she felt sure would flood some settlement downstream. It felt so good!
With half of the Kleenex in her left hand she wiped herself then she pulled up her panties and jeans. She felt extremely guilty when she dropped the Kleenex on the puddle of her urine. It wasn’t fair! she thought. Men just have to whip it out and pee.
Kami put the rest of the Kleenex into her jeans pocket and began walking back to where her beloved husband had been peeing. She felt suddenly unburdened and she began noticing every little plant in the little ecosystem she had been using as a bathroom. She suddenly heard the echo of the prairie wind. She noticed a yucca plant and then a cactus. She noticed rock outcroppings that looked like people she had once known. She felt the sand move under her step. She smelled the sagebrush. She could suddenly hear her own breath.
And then suddenly a wild animal came up behind her. She sensed it. She heard the footsteps. It whizzed past her and that is when she realized it was Chandra.
Chandra did not stop to greet Kami. She did not stop to sniff Kami. She did not stop to even acknowledge Kami. Chandra was too frantic in her pace to get back to Brian; her lord, her alpha male, her love partner.
Kami kept walking up the arroyo until finally she saw Brian and Chandra embracing. They were exuding love and excitement.
Why the fuck am I with a man who loves his dog more than me? Kami thought. Why do I always come in second? Why is Brian more exuberant and out-going with his love for Chandra than he was for his love of me?
Would Brian be enjoying this trip as much if I didn’t even come along?
Kami walked right past Brian and Chandra who were snuggling and kissing and drooling over each other. She headed straight for the rent-a-car.
Just before reaching the car Kami heard multiple footsteps behind her. A small cloud of dust was thrown into the air.
“Kami! Kami! Wait up!”
Kami stopped and turned around. She was just in front of the rent-a-car. Having turned around she saw both Brian and Chandra running towards her.
Chandra reached her first. She jumped up, her front paws landing on Kami’s chest. The impact threw Kami back against the front of the rent-a-car.
Kami reached her arms around Chandra and she hugged her. As Chandra licked her ear Kami hugged Chandra even tighter. She whispered into Chandra’s furry ear, “I love you, Chandra.”
Chandra jumped off of her just as Brian came running up to Kami, “Kami, is everything okay? What’s the matter?”
Kami smiled, “Nothing’s the matter. Let’s get going.”
Brian walked right up to her, “Are you sure nothing’s the matter?”
“Yeah.”
“You can tell me.”
“Okay. I’ll tell you.”
With a look of astonished fear on his face, Brian slowly managed to say, “Okay.”
“When we get to the Black Hills….”
“Yeah.”
“When we get to our motel room….”
“Yeah.”
“I want you to….”
“Yeah.”
“I want you to make love to me like you’ve never made love to me before!”
Brian’s entire composure froze. Not a muscle moved on his face. His jaw dropped a little bit.
After a very long moment of silence Kami smiled, “What do you say?”
Brian’s composure remained frozen for a long moment. Then he smiled. And then his smile grew to exquisite proportions.
And then they were kissing. The needle of the romance meter skipped up to the top of the meter.
Holy shit! Thought Kami, Is he going to make love to me like I’ve never been made love to before right here on the hood of the rent-a-car?
But then Brian stopped kissing her and yelled, “Let’s go!”
Brian and Kami immediately proceeded to get back into the rent-a-car. Brian, of course, pushed his seat forward to let Chandra into the back seat.
Within seconds they were back on the highway to the Black Hills. Over time the hills became more than a mere speck on the horizon. They grew in stature and they beckoned the two lovers forth.
As the sacred mountains grew on the horizon Brian smiled and turned to face Kami, “You know, I really love you!”
But as he looked at her he realized that he could not see her face. Why? Because Chandra had her big doggie face stuck into the front of the car. She was looking out at traffic.
Brian leaned forward and looked in the direction of Kami. Kami leaned forward and looked at Brian, a grin plastered on her face.
Brian smiled like he was about to receive nirvana.
Brian and Kami leaned back in their seats. They could no longer see each other. Chandra’s dog face leaning forward from the back seat panting and slobbering between them blocked their view of each other. Chandra was the proverbial backseat driver. She was the energy and love and excitement that crackled in the air between Brian and Kami. She was the embodiment of the energy between them. She held that unconditional energy that was always ready to explode.
When they finally made it to the motel room up in the Black Hills they checked in and hurried up to their room. Brian quickly fed Chandra and while Chandra was eating Brian and Kami quickly got naked and jumped into bed. Brian proceeded to make love to Kami like she had never been made love to before. Just like she had asked.
Afterwards, they were both lying on their backs catching their breaths when Chandra jumped onto the bed right between them. With tongue wagging out of her mouth, Chandra looked back and forth between them.
Everything was right with the world.
