The Pacific Northwest is a pleasant area of the United States. Seattle is one of the major cities in that region. It is a place where people seem to feel generally safe, but there are problems everywhere.

I have friends and relatives who have lived in Seattle for years. Some are from families who have been residents of Seattle for generations. They love Seattle.

Cars are important modes of transportation for most people. They are necessary and useful. Most people who drive cars need to be respectful of others. Sometimes they are not, and road rage creates problems.

Pike Place Market is a public market in Seattle, Washington, United States. It opened on August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers’ markets in the United States. Overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront on Puget Sound, it serves as a place of business for many small farmers, craftspeople and merchants. It is named for its central street, Pike Place, which runs northwest from Pike Street to Virginia Street on the western edge of Downtown Seattle. KOMO-TV Seattle News Staff reported on “Pike Place road rage incident turns into public fight with a hammer, according to police.”

A road rage incident turned into a public fight involving a hammer and someone being hit by a car at Pike Place Market this weekend.

Seattle police said it started shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday at the entrance to the market where two people got into the road rage altercation.

A 32 year old man was turning into the market as he was driving a Toyota SUV. He began arguing with a 45 year old man who was driving a van. The man in the van apparently threw a water bottle at the SUV. Both men got out of their cars to argue.

The younger man pushed the other man to the ground and then began to drive off after getting back into his SUV. Another man followed the 32 year old and bumped his vehicle. That started another argument. Both cars were stopped at that point.

The third man got out of his car and threw a hammer through the back window of the other car. The other man grabbed the hammer and smashed the windshield of the man who then backed up his vehicle and drove into the suspect. He also hit another person who was crossing the street.

Police came to the scene and made arrests.

Road rage is a problem in the United States because people become angry and are not considerate of other drivers. It may escalate into violence and destruction. There may be fights break out because of road rage. It can cause many problems, sometimes including injury and even death.
