The Dog Chronicles #4

Return of the Squirrel

The Neverending Chase

Photo by Anna Rozwadowska on Unsplash

A dog jumps and lands on the grass where a squirrel was just moments before.

With a bewildered look, the dog glances around as the squirrel looks down from the tree giggling with malicious glee.

The dog panting turns around and trots away waiting for another chance

Perhaps the next day…

Author’s note: This poem is inspired by Snowy, the dog.

Parent’s note: R. Rangan Ph.D. is a witness to several of these daily chases — Snowy gives it all every single time and is yet to catch a squirrel — nonetheless he persists — wishes to thank everyone for reading this fun poem, and extend an invitation to join us at Story Bandits for all your squirrely kid, and pets stories — poetry, fiction, story poem — all are welcome.
