Restaurant That Gives You $5 Discount If You Have Well Behaved Kids
Yes, it’s real! Carino Bistro in Calgary, AB is that sweet place.
Taking kids to a restaurant can often be a challenging experience for parents, as it involves managing various factors to ensure a smooth dining experience for everyone involved. From keeping the children entertained and well-behaved to navigating the menu to find suitable options for picky eaters, there are several hurdles to overcome.
Additionally, parents may find themselves constantly worried about potential disruptions to other diners, such as tantrums or spills. Balancing the desire to enjoy a meal out with the family and the practicalities of managing young children in a public setting can create a significant hassle for parents.
Despite these challenges, many families still opt to dine out together, valuing the opportunity to spend quality time together and expose their children to different dining experiences. However, it often requires careful planning, patience, and flexibility to make the outing a success.
Imagine receiving a $5 discount on your total bill simply because your child behaves well at the restaurant.
That’s awesome right? Who doesn’t love discount on their bill.
Well, that is what Carino Bristo, a small 35 seat restaurant in Calgary, AB, doing for few years now. The restaurant is located along Edmonton Trail, and has been open since 2012.

Some parents might not even notice this on their bill. Anyway some did and posted online about it.
Here is what Karino, the Carino Bristo restaurant’s owner, says about the discount for well behaved kids:
“We don’t say anything, we don’t let the customers know. We just say thank you when we [hand over] the bill.”
Below is one of the bill that shows $5 discount for Well Behaved Kids that a customer posted online which went viral on social media:

A comment on social media got attention when it went viral. A user wrote: Now I want to see some lady demanding the discount because she thinks her brats are well behaved.
Now it might need to change as everyone found out about the deal.
For this Karino replied: “If customers feel unhappy when we don’t give them the discount for the kids, we are concerned about that. Maybe we’ll have to think of something different…maybe to some people having a nice, quiet dinner.”
I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on the ‘good behavior discount’ and how you manage dining out with your picky, demanding, or energetic child.
