The twitter notification said that Barbara Sher tweeted for the first time after a while. I clicked on it to read about her passing away on May 10th from Natural causes. Rest in Peace, Barbara Sher.

I first learned about this remarkable lady when I took a creative writing class in 1990. One of our assignments was to read a book called I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was by Barbara Sher.

Over the years, I have read a couple more books by her and listened to some of her seminars. Her message is best summed up by one of her book titles, Refuse to Choose.

In a world of specialization, Barbara talked about being a Scanner, someone with many interests. A Jack of Many Trades, as I call myself. She gave people like myself the permission slip to be different.

It was while I was searching for Barbara Sher online, more than ten years ago, that I learned about Barbara Winter and Valerie Young, two ladies who have become friends and mentors to me. The three ladies had done a teleseminar together.

Over the years, she was instrumental in changing the online entrepreneurial culture. She was prolific on Twitter and Facebook, dispensing wisdom and coordinating groups that helped Scanners to live fully and respectfully.

While alive, she lived her life in congruence with what she taught. She was well respected by her peers and followers alike. I, for one, will miss her presence, but not her wisdom. Her legacy lives on.

Rest in Peace, Barbara Sher.

As always, thank you for reading and responding.
