Ressentiment

A poem.

The power of spite

Keep it near to your heart

Let it destroy you

And wash away everything that is good

At our core

We are the same

Lost souls floating as if machines

Back and forth

From our daily toils

Awash in the meaningless

Like a disease, your ego has grown

Your care for things that no other does

You were nothing before, and you will be nothing after

But you cannot take this

You rail at the lack of control

Again, your ego slashes away at you

How long can your self sustain the damage

Blasted and embittered on a stony surface

Prometheus as his eyes are plucked out

And slowly grown again

This is not the way

It is your way

As long as the strong do what they are meant

As long as those who will continue to shine

You will lie in weakness

Stormy waters on the edge of a bountiful shore

Destined to rage as the birds gracefully soar above

As always,
