Respect each other

I’ve written an answer about some respect to each other in relationships.

In this world we live in today, most of us are focused on ourselves. And not being around others, being there for someone else, talking to each other without our phones in our hands and reading books in the library at home forgetting what time it is to go downstairs for dinner. That time should be back again.

I believe this is the fault of social media. They want to create a perfect life. Now everyone wants to show the world how wonderful they are, how great their life is and how important they are. People, particularly younger people, believe you’re not allowed to make any mistakes. We all must be perfect.

We all know that perfectness doesn’t exist. We all have our own interpretation of what’s perfect. That is something wonderful about it. We can discover the best version of ourselves. People can give you some advice in some situations. It’s up to you whether to take it or leave it.

We are individuals with things we want to do, things we want to achieve in life. That is fine. When someone is more into him or herself and saying how wonderful they are without acknowledging other people is not good. Especially when it has negative impacts on people around them.

If your partner isn’t respecting your utilities, your interest and things you want in life, then he should work on himself. He should ask himself why he acts as he does. Is it something from his history? What are his influences? The way he was supported by his parents?

He should understand what your interest are, what you love, what you wish in life. You are the person who chooses what’s best for you. You know who you are. If you want to improve, that’s up to you.

It is also your responsibility to tell him what you want, what your values are, what your interests are and how you want your life to be guided. With whom you want your life to be with.

The most essential thing in life is communication. Tell each other how you feel and what is bothering you.

Maybe you can try this:

  • Tell your partner which shows you want to watch.
  • Ask your partner which shows he wants to watch.
  • Is it that the shows are at the same time? Then look if both shows will be repeated or if you can watch them online.
  • If nobody loves each other shows, then look which shows you both love to watch and watch your own show in your own time.
  • Look which other activities you both have in common or both love to do together.
  • Try to have a conversation about any topic you both like, serious and funny ones, to connect together.

This is a circumstance where lots of people do get into. Try to reconnect at any time in your relationship. If it is not working, then let each other know what happened and why. Career? Other interests? Not wanting the same things anymore?

I wish you the best of luck. Take care and all the best.
