Trust but verify

It’s a common situation to receive advice and brush it off. Maybe we don’t believe it’s relevant, factual, beneficial, or valuable; these are valid feelings much of the time. Advice is as accessible and as numerous as the sand on the beach. Everybody has some advice to share.

Here’s the thing, though: sometimes, people's advice is actually valuable, but we’re too stubborn, ignorant, and egotistical to accept the advice.

What I like to do when I receive advice is to reflect and research (if possible) to learn more about how the advice might be relevant to my life and if it’s factual.

It’s healthy to trust people, but we must always ensure to verify what we’re applying to our lives makes sense to ensure we’re not adopting knowledge without challenge; this is a huge societal problem: we tend to adopt beliefs without considering them, which hurts not only ourselves but society as a whole.

Don’t reject advice. Reflect on the advice you receive and research it when applicable.
