feedback to improve

First of all, as the Editor of Paper Poetry, I am grateful for your support and contributions to upholding Paper Poetry within this 1.5 months on Medium.

As an Editor, a contributor, and a writer, I believe that there is a lot of room to improve. And, today, I’m writing this note to highlight a couple of ideas that I have accumulated in my Whiteboard that might interest you as a reader and a writer.

Of course, these ideas came out based on my understanding. However, if I get related suggestions or comments on the ideas, I will have a better view of whether any of these are worth spending time on.

The way I’m looking into it is as follows:

So, what are the ideas that are bugging me? I’m written down a couple of them in the following. These ideas are not elaborated in detail but might be worth exploring for a further brainstorm.

1. Collaboration work between writers

As a writer, I’ve done a collaboration project previously. That project was with three other fellow writers on Medium (respective fellow writers’ are Trista Ainsworth, Keno Ogbo, and Chirag) for a poetry sequel project. I’m grateful to them for a great learning experience and their support on the project.

We can introduce a collaboration project to work on a particular ‘theme’ of content by two or more writers (entirely on their convenience) and publish it as a collaborative content. Some possible ways to do it:

Photo by “My Life Through A Lens” on Unsplash;

a) two writers’ can write two poems on the same theme and highlight each other’s work on the bottom of their content

b) two writers’ can work on two verses, but taking support, suggestions, and feedback from each other and publish the content, acknowledging the other writer and their work;

c) two writers’ can work on one theme, one poem, and they both can publish the full version as a picture and their part in words. etc.

I understand, these are just some ideas thrown here, but I believe you can get the gist of the words. And we can welcome this sort of collaboration as it improves our learning and also the appreciation for other writers’ work. And, of course, the readers will get a different taste in terms of contents.

2. ‘Content of the month.’

Apart from the prompts, I wanted your feedback on whether you will be interested in having a ‘content of the month’ option. I have not figured out how to mention it (I might be creating a pretty complicated Excel file or use an analytics tool to select the content), but wondering whether that will be interesting to the readers and writers.

Bonus: There might be a ‘token of appreciation,’ which will not be that much of monetary value, but might be a gift card, who knows.

3. Additional Editor

Personally, I believe there is a requirement for an additional editor for various obvious reasons. Please let me know. It will add more value to editing the content, and I will also learn about the process.

4. Different tools/platforms integration with Paper Poetry

I’m not a great fan of running a Facebook group, it makes it too complicated, and we are already stressed enough on digital aspects. I wondered whether you are considering integrating Youtube contents of yours or SoundCloud recitation of your poetry in this regard.

I’m also opting for creating a Twitter account, which can promote all the contents to the twitter world, rather than using my one.

Instagram, a big fan of that, as I’ve seen fantastic content creation there, but still not sure. However, if I have to create a twitter account or Instagram account in this regard, I’ll opt for an editor immediately for sure.

5. Local/regional renowned poets’ content highlights

It is already in progress, and I’ll love to have more content in this regard. Please ensure that if you are highlighting any poet’s work, make sure that the words are on the public domain, and you refer the link. The content shouldn’t be a mere translation; instead, it should also include your viewpoints, some additional information on the poet, and probably other excellent contents link to the poet or quotes.

6. Collaboration projects in-between different publications

I still do not know how to conduct the collaboration, as that will be based on discussion and convenience. It is undoubtedly possible and will be exciting if any other publication owner and Editor finds it interesting to look for. It can be a contest, a prompt, or any convenient way to reach out to more readers and writers. One point to highlight, even DC Comics and Marvel collaborated in several projects, which still are a couple of their big hits.

7. Renowned Poetry based prompt

We can run a couple of prompts based on highlighting renowned or well-known poetry. What do you think!

8. Improvement in Publication’s design

I’ve limited ideas on design fundamentals. I’m still learning how to improve the overall design of Paper Poetry. Do you notice any related flaws that we should improve? Or, any suggestion to make the tabs simpler and more accessible? Do you think we should opt for the new publication design page, suggested by Medium?

That’s all I have for now. Based on the suggestions/feedback, I will update this article on which one is going forward, which one is not (will add an update in this content).

All I require is your support and open feedback. You can provide your valuable comment on the comment box or can add a ‘private note’ in this content.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Thanks for supporting Paper Poetry.
