UFO Landing
Remembering The Day The Aliens Crashed a UFO in Roswell
One of the best-kept secrets of the universe’s mysteries

Some of us remember when the supposed alien spacecraft went down at Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947 and the quick hush-up the next day. What really happened? Will the truth ever come out?
My father and his newspapers
Staying up-to-date on current events, as well as keeping up with the wins and losses of the Brooklyn Dodgers, were my father’s two favorite past times.
He loved to know what was going on in the world, eagerly sharing information with anyone who would listen, especially my mother, who always said, “I never have to listen to the news or read the papers, I just have to wait for your father to come home.”
Then one night, he arrived after work more excited than usual.
I remember him bounding up the marble steps outside our apartment door, fumbling with his key, then bursting into the kitchen, where my mother was about to bathe me in the laundry sink.
“The aliens landed in the desert,” he said, waving his newspapers around in front of my mom’s face.
It was normal for my father to share news, but this time was different. He was more excited than normal with his voice sounding almost panicky.
He especially loved the macabre, the unusual, and the scary, and wasted no time continuing with his story.
“There was a spaceship that crashed in the desert, and they recovered the body of a dead alien,” he stated, becoming more excited as he relayed the news.
My mom tried to hush him up so he wouldn’t scare me, but I was not scared, just curious, and shared his enthusiasm. Only being a little over two years old at the time, I could not get the words out to ask more.
It’s been said that children, even babies, could remember specific events they were part of, and this one is as vivid today as it was over 75 years ago.
Besides trying to keep him quiet, I don’t remember what else my mother said, but she did get him to take it down a notch — then he never mentioned it again! Ever!

So, what happened to the alien bodies?
As I became older, I wanted to talk to him about it, but the time never seemed right thinking he may be embarrassed. He believed the story, as did many others, only to have the newspaper rescind it the next day, attempting to prove it was a mistake.
Still curious, I did some research and found an article that appeared in one of the newspapers from July 1947 about the crash, very likely one of the issues my father had shown my mom.
Then I found another article that had been printed the next day, retracting their statement, saying it was only a weather balloon that crashed.
I wasn’t buying it, and I was surprised that so many people were willing to accept the weather balloon theory so readily.
With all my heart, I believe something crashed in Roswell that was not of this world, one of the best kept secrets by the government still, after all these decades. Maybe other countries are in on it, too, and we’re just not privy to that information yet.
Another person believes
My old boss believes, as I do, that the government is hiding something in Roswell, and there is a spacecraft in one of those hangars. She also believes the aliens are already among us disguised as our neighbors, friends, co-workers, and possibly the president.
I agree with her on some of that, but the aliens living right under our noses whose disguises are so perfect we don’t recognize them as anything other than what we think they are — not so much!
In the last few decades, I’ve watched several documentaries depicting the incidents at Roswell. There are several theories, government documents with writing blocked out, and testimony from government officials who claim there was more to the incident than they told us.
Even after reports of the material they found not being anything we know of to this day, no one can prove or disprove the weather balloon vs. spacecraft theory.
It still remains a mystery — to most of us, anyway.
Someone, somewhere, knows something
What and who landed in the desert of Roswell, New Mexico, that day in July 1947? If aliens did land on our planet, isn’t it better for us to know and prepare ourselves before we are invaded?
Maybe I take this personally because I was alive when it happened, and remember the fear, excitement, and curiosity my father displayed. The spark this ignited in me never went away.
I would love to know the truth!
