Kaepernick played in the National Football League (NFL) and was a star.

The name of Colin Kaepernick was well known as a famous player in the NFL. He had played with the San Francisco 49ers for six years when he knelt during the national anthem before a game in 2016.

His action was as a form of protest against police brutality and racial inequality in the United States. He received both praise and criticism for kneeling. He continued to kneel at other games, and some players joined him to show support for the issue.

Donald Trump said that all players who knelt during the national anthem should be fired.

Kaepernick became a free agent and remained unsigned. He filed a grievance against the NFL and its owners in November 2017. He reached a settlement with the NFL but remains unsigned.

Kaepernick was born on November 3, 1987, in Wisconsin. His birth mother is white, and his father is Black. He was placed for adoption with a white couple when he was five weeks old. The family lived in Wisconsin until Kaepernick was four. Then they moved to California.

He started to play football when he was eight years old. He also played basketball and baseball. He was nominated for all-state in all three sports in his senior year of high school. He was also a 4.0 GPA student.

It could be said that he lived a privileged life in a white home. It was not like he had the same experiences as many of the Black people in the United States.

Yet he was protesting on their behalf when he decided to kneel during the NFL games. He knew that he had a platform that would draw attention to the problems of Black people.

Kaepernick has been in the news recently because it appears that he would like to return to playing football, perhaps in the NFL. He was a big star who was concerned with his fellowmen. He was willing to risk his career to try and help.
