Relating Life to Carnival Rides
Life for me is like going to a carnival and trying out different rides.
Roller coaster — in just a blink of an eye you could rapidly be facing various situations. You could not make it stop, it just keeps moving forward even though you don’t want it to anymore. You can scream all you want! You can cry if you feel like it but it won’t stop for you. Life won’t stay still just for you. I had lost my father unexpectedly when I was fifteen. I wanted time to stop or pause for a while because I didn’t know how I will be able to handle it. But, I had to keep moving forward because I was already being left behind. I needed to catch my breath and up with what was in store for me. I rode with screams and cries. I even shouted my parents’ names several times but I had to face everything with all I had, I have to be responsible for my own life.
Ferris wheel — this ride might seem boring for some. It takes time for you to be up and see the beautiful view that the Universe has to offer. Then finally when you’re at the top, you’ll soon be going down again. This is life, sometimes we are at the peak of our success then we suddenly break. No worries though, in no time we will be back up again. We need to master how to handle tough situations positively, it’s all about the balance. I’ve had my ups and downs in my career. I was able to experience different lines of jobs — worked for the media, the government, sales, and insurance, had my own business, banking, hotel management, and customer service. I was looking and exploring for what I’m really good at and my passion, I wanted to explore different perspectives, it was my journey. Throughout, I had experienced emotional breakdowns, financial problems, family and relationship problems, and an identity crisis. I had to go through a lot to be where I am now; I’ve learned that life is all about how you handle and balance the situations thrown at you. Remember that we won’t suffer for long, everything is temporary. Always carry your optimism with you.
Bumper car — this is one of the most fun and easy ride. You get to bump cars, whenever or whichever you like. It’s like bumping to different people, strangers. For twenty-five years of living I have met, conversed, became friends with, and loved people. They were all a part of my journey towards growing into the person I’m meant to be. There were those who taught me great lessons in life — to have courage in being honest, to believe in myself no matter what people say, to not easily give away my trust because there are some who will abuse it, to love another but yours should be greater, to know your worthiness because above all your worth is immeasurable and to end a conversation in kind words since you’ll never know if it would be the last time you’ll ever talk to them. All of these people came and went. I believe, the Universe just wanted me to be strong and learn to accept that people come and go. It’s what they have taught you that remains in you forever.
Carousel — kids love this ride, it goes round and round. You know life is like that too. We just have to buckle up and hold on. It may go in circles and we might lose our focus though you’ll still end up back to who you are. It is a reminder for us, that no matter how life confuses us, we will always get back on track. Our never-ending self-love and self-learning, everything falls on our hands. We just have to keep going and find courage in everything that we believe in. Ever since I have been trying so hard to understand my purpose in life and finally, I have. I want to inspire and motivate those in need. To let them realize their full potential because we all have our own gifts. Let’s make our lives worth living and start with believing in oneself.
Do not be afraid to ride with your life. Have courage and opt to give yourself the life you deserve.
