Reimagine Your Life
by Gustave Deresse
In all your memories, you are experiencing, learning, growing & alive.
Some events broke you, others gave you drive.
Difficulties arose; a fair few hurdles you overcame.
Others left you changed.
The value extracted, now you can progress.
You release your breath, energy flows, and things start looking up.
Carried by momentum; zipped away aboard flickers of light.
No step was now taken ‘thout reveling in delight.
For memories too agonizing, accept there is pain.
Retain the useful— the rest is in vain.

Afterword
This probably comes across as aggressive. I understand. There was a time when I wouldn’t believe this process was possible. I was stressed, angry, non-stop whiny and depressed— about everything. I had a very particular childhood.
Not bad, but abnormal; and I was a sensitive kid.
When I was 20, it took me six months to get over a relationship that had ended in chaos. At age 22, I was still pacing most of my free time away in fits of anxiety. By 25, I had improved self-control but still felt plagued by negative feelings that wouldn’t go away.
Now 28, I have a comparatively excellent default state, and my intensity favours the positive.
If this is my progress up until now, I trust things will only get better. The key is to care for the improvement, and to believe it possible.
Only by expecting value in return will the brain see sense in dispensing the energy.
As everyone lives a unique experience, there’s no predicting exactly how it will be for you, or how hard it will be, but by the cerebral laws of genesis and plasticity, the brain will continually grow and change. Decide whether it’s worth it for you to take direction.
Being aware of what’s possible now, you’ll have to choose.
That’s all.
