Refracting
A Poem

Bent to a conceptual dark then the direction shifts into arms breasts and thighs Stellar eyes and wanting to get up and lie down All the activity of an afternoon engaged in a hope of getting something negative Robins crash into the window beaks still trying to get through while leaves and winds do their best imitation of Charybdis only to fall back into place and not in my neighbour’s yard Testing some uncertainty then leaning on you wanting dreams to stop rushing to the surface in case there’s no life preservers left And once in the bedroom before the desk lamp gets turned off I forget what we were reaching for as lips keep on moving
