CORE Psychology

Reflecting on Wisdom

I look for wisdom in simple things so you can follow me, as I follow them if I’m not there, your eyes will see what I have seen Our minds will merge from The Meaning of Wisdom

Reflecting on Wisdom is a simple practice I created to help me and my clients through challenging times. It is an organized way of bringing a wise perspective on our circumstances that can be transformative.

Step 1

Collect pieces of wisdom that resonate as true for you. These can be quotes, prayers, songs, or even just one word.

Examples:

Unless you do something beyond what you have already mastered you will not grow ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Everything that irritates us about others can lead to understanding ourselves. ~ Carl Jung

The secret to life is to fall seven times and get up eight times ~ Paulo Coelho

Step 2

Reflect on the statement for one paragraph. What does it mean to you? What does it say about life in general? How does this feel inside of you?

Step 3

Next page reflect on your life situation from the perspective of this piece of wisdom. Answer the following questions:

  1. What changes for you when you consider your life issue(s) from this perspective?
  2. What actions or choices become visible now?
  3. How can you apply this wisdom to your life right now?

A poetic New Year’soffering you may like from last year:
