Reflecting on My Medium Stats For May And My Goals For June
My creative round-up for the last month
May turned out to be my most successful month yet!
I wrote about topics I love, read lots of great content, and felt confident when adding to my portfolio of work. I made brave decisions, put myself out there, and pursued things I would’ve been too scared to do this time last year.
Sure, I didn’t meet all of my Medium goals, but I’ve realised I’m not going to restrict myself by any numbers in June as I prefer to see where things take me organically.
An exciting writing journey lies ahead for me this summer, which will likely slow down my work on Medium, but it means that when I do have the time, I’ll focus on churning out high-quality posts I really love.
For now, here’s hoping June will be a great month of writing!
Stats For May
- I wrote 5 stories across 3 publications
- 4 articles were chosen for further distribution
- 2 of the 5 articles have over 150 views
- 1 article currently has 1.5k views
- 0 new referred members
- 40 new followers & 4 new email subscribers
- Total earnings from May: $38.67
Very grateful for these numbers! I had one very successful post that contributed to a lot of these figures, so I have to give a shout-out to all the wonderful readers for making this happen.
Top Earning Articles In May
My highest earning article (ever!) was this piece on history books that I love. I studied military history at university, and have a great passion for the subject, so I’m not sure why it took me so long to write on the topic!
I have a few more history-related posts planned given the success of this one, so watch this space.
Following that, we have these 3 articles (published in May & March):
June Goals
- I’m not setting myself a number of articles to write this month — too stressful and I think it takes away the fun of writing!
- I’d like to see another increase in my monthly earnings but I’m also not going to set a fixed number. Steady growth with each month would be nice!
- I want to hit 300 followers
- I’d also like to write a couple of pieces outside of books/reading… perhaps video games, movies, or wellbeing!
Favourites Of May
As usual, I love to end my creative round-up for the month with a nod to all the media I’ve enjoyed in May — from TV series to Medium articles.
- Books: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, Book Lovers by Emily Henry, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson, and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
- Films: Everything Everywhere All at Once, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, Marie Antoinette, and Jackass 4.5
- TV: Severance, Stranger Things (S4 Part One), and Love Is Blind (S1)
- Medium articles: Both from the lovely Eliza Lita — I loved this piece on slow reading and this examination of Sally Rooney.
