Reflecting on Bravery: Remembrance and the Cost of War

Explore the depths of Remembrance Sunday, honoring sacrifices while contemplating the paradox of war and human nature’s complex facets.

In Shadows and Sunlight: A Remembrance

In the heart of Albion’s green, Whispers stir in the serene, Dawn breaks with a solemn hue, Remembrance Sunday, we renew.

Crisp air carries tales untold, Of valiant hearts, both young and old, In poppy fields, memories bloom, Echoes of bravery, dispelling gloom.

Marching feet, a rhythmic beat, Along the cobbled, old town street, Medals glinting in the morn, For those who fought, and those unborn.

In every stride, a story lies, Of tears shed under foreign skies, The price of peace, forever steep, In hearts and minds, forever we keep.

Yet, beneath the veil of pride, Lurks a darker tide inside, For power’s call, a siren’s song, Leads some astray, to paths so wrong.

War, a stage for human greed, Yet, in its face, the valiant lead, A paradox of pain and grace, In every soldier’s steadfast gaze.

In silent thought, we stand and bow, For those lost, our heads low, In shadows cast by war’s cruel hand, We ponder peace, in this grand land.

Tales of valor, of sacrifice, For freedom’s cost, is oft a vice, Yet, in this act, we find our soul, Remembering those who paid the toll.

So, as the bugle’s cry does fade, Underneath the willow’s shade, We promise to remember all, From spring’s first light to autumn’s fall.

In every poppy, red and bright, Lies a soul who fought the fight, For tomorrow’s hope, in the sun’s embrace, We find strength, in remembrance’s grace.
