Summary

The website content is a reflective prose poem exploring the theme of forgiveness through the metaphor of a mirror, inviting the protagonist to look within and embrace his inner strength and story.

Abstract

The prose poem titled "Reflecting Mirror of the Soul" delves into the introspective journey of a man who confronts his imperfections and broken promises in front of a mirror. This mirror is not just a physical object but a profound metaphor for the soul, urging the man to seek inner light and narrate his own story rather than merely seeking forgiveness. The poem captures the emotional turmoil of the protagonist as he stands at a crossroads, having faced rejection and disappointment, yet it also encourages a transformative self-realization. The narrative suggests that true forgiveness comes from within, and by embracing his own narrative, the protagonist can rise above his current state of despair.

Opinions

  • The mirror is personified as an entity that understands the protagonist's deepest aspirations and failures.

  • The poem conveys a message of empowerment, encouraging the protagonist to be the narrator of his own life rather than a passive participant.

Reflecting Mirror of the Soul

GiaB ‘Dear Genie’ prompt #2: forgiveness

Photo by Ilyass SEDDOUG on Unsplash

He stood in front of the mirror, laying bare his imperfections, the physical mirror slowly transforming into the reflecting mirror of the soul, piercing him, knowing him, like no other, like no other.

The mirror knew the first time he stood there years ago, living in the world of dreams, looking to create one of his own, excited, happy.

Then, here he is, rejected and seeking forgiveness for what he promised to the mirror, to his soul, now crumbling into million pieces, stuck at crossroads, confused, hands folded, crying.

The mirror, it waits, for him to rise from this state instead of seeking forgiveness, to peek into his soul, be that free, strong boy, to seek the light within, and run, run, tell his story, not to the mirror, but to the people, to the world, be that narrator of his own story.
