Adrianna played with a whip from the new Redemption collection she had started selling in her store. She liked high-end sex toys and products for Discreetly Yours. Redemption was a good brand to work with.

Today she felt vulnerable because the community board was sending a representative to eyeball the store, looking for the smallest infraction to shut it down. Discreetly Yours was too precious to her for that.

When she had felt alone in her marriage, she had amassed an elegant assortment of sex toys and paraphernalia that her husband did not even recognize when he opened her play drawer. She had not ended their marriage then. She had promised to be with him and felt she deserved what she got. Even if that was nothing.

Adrianna got nothing at that time.

But when it was over, she came up with this business to support herself. She moved to a smaller suburb and opened her store that the town wanted to take away from her.

If not here, somewhere else. This was her livelihood and no one was going to take that away from her.

“Mrs. French?”

His British accent filled the room. Adrianna turned around with the whip.

Baxter’s eyes widened. There was something diabolical in them — or did Adrianna want to see something diabolical in them?

“Are you ready to show me around your store?” he asked, running his fingers along the spines of the erotic books.

She hit the inside of her hand with the whip handle.

“It’s now or never.”
