Abstract

The poem "Recollection" by Tejdeep Kaur expresses the author's longing for someone in terms of celestial and natural imagery associated with the night. The author compares the absence of their beloved to the day missing the night and draws parallels between the stars and the person's eyes, the moon and their smile, and night jasmine and their allure. The poem conveys a sense of loss akin to a shooting star that cannot be held onto, with the night sky symbolizing the hiding place for past secrets and memories. The author acknowledges Hirsch Singh, MSc for tagging them in the Never-Ending Poetry challenge with the prompt "Night-time" and extends the challenge to other poets on the topic of "Solitude."

Recollection

What Night brings with It

I miss you, how day misses the night, Existing apart, you and I likewise

stars covering the sky, remind me of glimmer in your eyes, The smile so addictive, like the moon so bright

Dark unconfined hair, similar to cloudy dark night, Gait so fine, wings of fireflies

face lit up with a glow, like northern lights hour oozing the fragrance, exotic night jasmine flower

Alas! Like a falling star she fell, not to be caught, Staring at the empty sky, alone I stood.

All the bygones it hides, the dark of the night, Secrets buried deep inside, in the sky so wide.
