Recast AI: Turn Articles Into Podcasts
Transform The Way You Consume Content

I’m a huge fan of podcasts. And I don’t mean simply for entertainment, but I find podcasts as a valuable resource for learning.
Maybe it’s the conversational style or the engagement, but I definitely prefer it over other listening formats like audiobooks or lectures.
I also like reading articles, and while I appreciate reading articles from talented writers, there are certain publications that I only read for the purpose of gaining information.
So what if I could take those purely informative articles and consume them in a more engaging way? What if they can be delivered in the style of a podcast?
So I stumbled upon this IOS app called “Recast AI” which claims to summarize articles into podcast formats.
The description for Recast AI is as follows:
With recast, you can transform the way you consume content, whether you’re on the go, working out, or simply looking for a more convenient way to stay informed. Recast takes the hassle out of reading long articles, by turning them into entertaining, informative, and easy-to-understand audio conversations.
After trying it out, I am thoroughly blown away.
If you want to hear a sample of what it sounds like, here is one of my articles that I converted:
It sounds a bit more like a newscast rather than a conversational podcast, but it’s still well done.
I can definitely see myself using this to catch up on articles, and if the summary sounds interesting, I would likely go back and read the article later.
How It Works
The way the app works is you can capture articles via a Chrome extension from your browser or from the iPhone app, and then the audio is available on the iPhone app in the ‘my recasts’ section.
The app has a ‘discover’ section for article feeds, ‘add recast’ to capture new articles, and ‘my recasts.’

As of right now, I am not aware of an Android option, so it’s just IOS at the moment.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I am really impressed with the quality and execution of the app, it is definitely something I’m going to add to my AI toolbox.
My only suggestion is I wish there was a browser version to manage, edit, and export audio files. The developers are asking for feedback so the assumption is they plan on improving it.
