The Las Vegas Raiders, who had struggled to score points in recent games, reached the end zone a whopping nine times and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, 63–21.

Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell had the best game of his rookie season, completing 20 of 34 passes for 248 yards and tossing four touchdown passes. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers added a three-yard touchdown strike to fellow wideout Davante Adams. While Adams led the team in receptions with eight for 101 yards, receiver Tre Tucker recorded three catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Zamir White, who filled in for injured starter Josh Jacobs, rushed 17 times for 61 yards and scored a touchdown.

The Raiders’ offense might have been unstoppable yesterday, but their defense was equally as dominant. While the unit recorded three sacks, two of them by defensive end Malcolm Koonce, the highlight was a 44-yard fumble return for a touchdown by 327-pound defensive tackle John Jenkins. Cornerback Jack Jones tacked on a 16-yard interception for a touchdown the following quarter.

Although the Chargers’ offense looked dismal for most of the game, quarterback Easton Stick completed 23 of 32 passes for 257 yards and tossed three touchdown passes. Tight end Gerald Everett led the team in receptions with five for 41 yards while receiver Jordan Palmer added five catches for 113 yards and scored a touchdown. Running back Isaiah Spiller recorded 16 rushes for 50 yards.

The Raiders’ win-loss record this season has now improved to 6–8, which puts them in third place in the AFC West division. Although their chances of reaching the playoffs are slim, this win snaps a three-game losing streak that had started Nov. 19. This is also a crucial moral victory for the once-proud franchise that in recent years has suffered from a revolving door of players and coaches, questionable play-calling, and senseless penalties.

With this victory and only three games remaining, the Raiders have an opportunity to end the regular season with a winning streak. But can they make it happen? Maybe. Maybe not. We will find out Dec. 25 when they face their longtime divisional foes, the 8–5 Kansas City Chiefs.
