Rebecca’s Fall

7.00 pm, Rebecca’s clothes are flying off the balcony of her parent's house. Rebecca tries to catch them but they are too many. Her mother shouts, “ You should be ashamed of yourself young girl. Go start your life now since you think you are a grown woman.”

With tears filling her face, she tries to amass her belongings which are scattered all over her parent’s compound. The world seems to have come to a pause. All Rebecca can view is despair as she does not know what and how her life is going to be after she leaves that yellow gate.

It is just after Justin and his family have finished their dinner when Justin receives a call from an unknown number. He answers it and there seems to be no one on the other end. This is weird, thinks Justin. In about a fraction of a second, the same number calls him, and this time when he answers, it’s a voice he knows.

“(Rebecca crying) Justin! Justin! J! I am outside your house and I need your help…”

What do you mean Rebecca? Stop crying & tell me what is going on. Why are you outside my place? (Justin walks to his room and takes a peep through his curtain to confirm if Rebecca is out there).

A wise man once said, “Man cannot drown in his own sweat,” however, it seems that Justin is proving the opposite, he is about to drown in his sweat. Rebecca is out there.

Justin tells Rebecca he is coming down. Justin makes up a story for his parents and he picks the car keys and drives out. Just a few miles from the gate, Rebecca appears and gets aboard and they drive away. After 15 minutes of driving, Justin parks the car beside the road and asks Rebecca to explain what her problem is.

To his dismay Rebecca replies.“I am pregnant.”

Justin is left dumbfounded.
