Rebecca Blume, In Bloom: A Bio
It is no surprise that my eagerness for a fresh start hit me like a ton of bricks in my thirties. My twenties brought me great joy, took me to different places, and tested my perseverance. Through hardships and changes in my life path, I have learned to move forward and pick myself up with grace, compassion and persistence. After graduating high school in Rome, Italy and attending Smith College as a student athlete with an “abroad” experience at University of Hawaii, the time has come for more learning and the kind where I can flourish in a positive and empowering environment. I have found this in writing.
During the times between, my curiosity and desire for new endeavors thrived. I was a fashion model, I painted, designed jewelry and embraced an amazing job as Marketing Director for a large Mid-Western car dealership. I self promoted my creative businesses through social media posts and wrote the blog for Billion Auto. I created short, fun video content for a start-up and my entrepreneurial thirst was quenched. Seattle is my home but I am grateful to have experienced living and growing in different places. I am now thrilled to be back on the West Coast where I am close to family yet get the perks of sunshine and beaches.
Life can throw us curve balls when we think we are on a linear path. With undying support from family, friends, and mentors, I have found acceptance and beauty in the paths I have been down. Although unconventional, I love my story and how it has shaped who I am today. It is in my nature to be the best at what I do and when I modeled I was in magazines, my paintings in publications, and my jewelry…well, on Michelle Obama. I have learned so much through experience with work and with love, loss and life.
I began working hard at deepening my writing skills after years of filling up personal journals. I received a perfect score on the writing section of the SAT and went on to study at a small liberal arts college where I could pursue my interests without being held back by a core curriculum. After playing professional soccer in Brazil, I went on to indulge in my true passions. The arts have always given me a therapeutic outlet and I have found great joy in painting, jewelry design and writing. My drive and orientation towards goals have brought accomplishments into my life and I look forward to applying my skill sets to another venture. Join me. Read with me, and write.
