But this is precisely where beginners are often misdirected. Confusing the “easiest way” with “instant riches”. That cannot be further from the truth. Being the “easiest way” to make money online simply comes down to the following.

You Do Not Need Your Own Product.

You Do No Need To Deal With Support.

You Do Not Need To Deal With Refunds.

You Have No After Sales Obligations.

But I can assure you, it is not so “easy” to actually generate sales and earn commissions with affiliate marketing. Because every beginner, including myself, hit that brick wall called “traffic”.

If you think that affiliate marketing is a quick way out of your financial problems, then you are sadly mistaken. You might even end up losing the money you cannot afford to, I know I have!

In a nutshell, this is how affiliate marketing works. You get the right affiliate product, through high-quality content, in front of an interested audience, at the right time. But we will get to all of that in a bit.

Please trust me when I say, I failed more times than I care to recall. That is the only guarantee you have with “making money online”, you will fail! Not maybe, you will imminently fail, many times.

You must preferably personally test what you intend to promote, so, you have to actually purchase the product. But before you do that, you must watch YouTube videos on product reviews, and product testimonials. While also ensuring that the product comes with a money-back guarantee.

Just choosing a random product, can be catastrophic. But you also have to establish a site’s trust rating and be sure the affiliate offer redirects to its own hosted domain. Be careful of promoting potentially dangerous sites!

It requires a lot of research to find products to promote that will be trusted and profitable. And I hate it when I watch “tutorial” videos on how to post raw affiliate links everywhere! Videos are made for the sole purpose of views and providing you with a bunch of fluff!

Then we have consistency and presentation. Presentation is all about what your visitor sees first with your content. The title, presentation image, and the first 2 to 4 sentences.

If you do not create curiosity with these, then a scroll becomes just that, a scroll. You did not give the scroller a reason to stop scrolling and take a look. Do you even have a featured image to display on mobile devices?

GEO location and timing I have also mentioned several times. But it does not change the fact that it plays a major role. You can have the best content, thoroughly researched, with the most curious presentation on earth.

When you reach your target audience at the wrong time, you’re screwed. It completely defeats the purpose of all the work you have just done. You must establish the time difference from where you are to where your target audience is.

Only then can you know what time to post, comment, engage, etc. Only then can you maximize your exposure, and recognition and build trust. By reaching your GEO-targeted audience at the right time.

This “winning strategy” which takes years, means getting free traffic to your affiliate links. Unfortunately, free traffic is the “long way around”. But when you are just getting started, also the best option.

However, the point is to build your own online audiences, and for that, you will have to be rather active on the internet. These are just a few cogs in a much larger machine, which later forms part of multiple content marketing strategies.

They have their own gigantic audiences on the internet, which takes decades to build up. When they post a Medium story, for instance, having 300K followers naturally they will crush you as far as engagement goes.

Contrary to popular belief, next-level affiliate marketing is about having your own digital products online. And don’t forget that an eBook is also a digital product, just saying. But you will also need your own websites and blogs.

Because you must build up your own online audiences through quality content and trust, recognition is everything in a fiercely competitive industry. In fact, affiliate marketing is a multi-billion dollar industry!

You must gain more knowledge, be it through failure or successful attempts. Your level of knowledge determines the quality of the solutions you get to come up with. And with ranking for instance.

When you want to outrank the top position, then your content must be more informative and much more professional. Therefore, your level of knowledge determines your level of success.

Knowledge is how you attract the masses with solutions that they are looking for, answers they seek. And the how-to, and step-by-step guides they have been looking for.

But these so-called “shortcuts” require quite a bit of time. So, although these are shortcuts, it needs time to gather knowledge so you can compete at a professional level.
