Everyone needs a salary earner, but no one wants to be a salary maker. — Author
From college students to people who do as little as babysitting, no one wants a salary these days. No one wants to wait until 30 days before being paid for their efforts.
Even in some famous motivational books, there are clamors about not aiming to be a salary earner. Bottom line, no one wants to be associated with that clan of people.
Sometimes they look enslaved by that fixed amount at the end of the month. Not just that, maybe also by the HR and Chief Executive Officers of their job.
Don’t be a salary earner!
Don’t be a salary earner. No, why not be someone who generates salaries. Be a CEO, become a business owner, and begin your start-up.
Apparently, the present world population is not in tune with earning a salary anymore, but what are the perks, and how well so?
Although, you can’t shut out salary earners because even after creating your own company or business, you will still need the help of specific individuals to help run tasks for you. Meanwhile, here are reasons you shouldn’t be a salary earner and how to escape the trap if you are already one.
Reason No 1 — Salary earners are caged.
Though, not all salary earners. That is because some salary earners are way happier than business owners. With the options created during the pandemic, some salary earners might not be in so much discomfort.
In case you haven’t heard, most jobs now have the option of working full time, remotely, or hybrid.
That’s a wider gap for salary earners to feel less occupied. But still, they are caged as they are still involved in every task and whatever decisions at work. Worse, some salary earners face the anguish of having a toxic boss. One who would make every working hour horrible for them.
No matter how pleasing, salary earners are caged.
Reason No 2 — Salary earners are financial crackheads.
They earn differently; don’t expect them to spend differently. Salary earners spend as much as they get paid. Not directly, but they apply the same theory of payment to purchase.
- Their earnings are pre-determined, and so is their spending.
- Their payments are tight, and so is their spending.
Their survival instincts are as sharp as a whistling sound. They spend less and save more. People who spend more than they earn can never survive a single month of being a salary earner.
How not to be a salary earner
With the way the world is built, you may not be able to escape this trap. Well, only if you are a millennial and have the opportunity to be a full-stack tech wiz, bitcoin trader, or freelancer.
But if you are way past the age where you could swiftly leave your job in anger for survival stakes. Then there are a few online businesses you could try to help boost your confidence against the slavery of your monthly earnings.
- Freelancing
- Ecommerce
- Taking online surveys
- Affiliate marketing
- Podcasting
Although these few online businesses won’t work like magic, they certainly will give you a confidence boost to spending more and feeling less enslaved by your monthly payments.
Reasons why you need a salary earner
Moreover, regardless of your thoughts, either you leave the group of monthly salary earners or expand your spending wings while being a salary earner. You cannot deny the importance of every salary earner.
Reason No 1 — They help float the economy.
We all know that their ever-instinctive thoughts and budgeted mindset help float the economy properly. They certainly have things to buy at the end of each month.
That is why even freelance writers can get consistent gigs online and testify to having had most of their clients require their services every month.
Reason No 2 — They help your deep stat numbers.
You might not know this, but even here on Medium, we should be deeply grateful to the salary earners who share a certain percentage of their earnings to subscribe to the monthly membership and read our stories.
We might get lost in the wave of our writer friends on Medium, but don’t forget that there are a group of people who are only there to read and do nothing else.
These folks help add a whole lot to your 2.3K views, 1.4K reads, and $100 stats.
Reason No 3 — They pit your ideas against theirs.
No one wants to be a salary earner, let alone believe that earning a salary is their fate.
Regardless we millennials must start utilizing the financial knowledge instilled in every salary earner.
Every freelancer or skilled earner, among many salary earners, will keep getting richer. He will have the opportunity to unintentionally learn how to use a scale of preference for all of his purchases, despite earning a lot more than the salary earners.
Lastly, the world will utterly shy away from being paid monthly and embrace being paid per skill, risk, or task. Because even in first world countries where most people are paid per working hour, it still doesn’t reflect the level of effort some people put into work in those hours or the tasks they do.
Therefore, every salary should be accompanied by a pint of positivity, and every skilled earner should encourage, not job-shaming salary earners.
