Reasons why you need to celebrate the International Women Day with WTM
What you have #CouragetoCreate in 2021 ?
Short Story
Back in 2010, I was so discouraged by many surrounding circumstances, made me lose the control of all the steps I decided to take towards my goals and my dreams; For many reasons out of my hands, my confidence that I can work in IT Sector disappeared, I thought I might not be clever enough for it, or I don’t have the ability to work deep with code, I thought because I wasn’t computer science graduate, as most folks working in this field. My background was commerce and management systems!
That put me at extremely low battery and I had no energy to do anything or even try, but suddenly I found that all I needed to have, is some Courage. Someone to support me and light me up with little of their power and energy, to make me persist in the way I choose, that I feel I love to complete on it. Typically like a car’s jump starter, or a “boost” starts a vehicle that has a discharged or dead battery.
I was lucky to find a group of GDG -Google Developer Group- organizers (used to be named GTUG -Google Technology User Groups- at that time), and another awesome sub-group called Women Techmakers, They were putting all the efforts to help, and support every single person joining their group, in many levels: Teaching new technologies, Best practice coding skills, social gathering and mental support, creating connections to boost confidence and achieve your goals.
Since then, I have been keen about not to miss any of their events and meetups, because how much value you may get out of it. Not only did we raise each other’s technical skills, but through the social and personal support, great long life friendships! The connections and help we gave each other along the way opened up opportunities we couldn’t imagine!
Since joining these organizations 2012, I have traveled the world, got married, and became the mother to 2 wonderful daughters!
That is a LOT! As you can imagine, there were many ups and downs with many obstacles during that period, I can talk about them in 100 separate articles. Honestly, those challenges pushed me hard to give up, and leave my career as a software developer.
Because of the frequent travel, I always need to start from zero again, losing my communities in parallel with new social life as wife and mom, after I used to be a pampered girl! I remember when I had my 3 month baby on my lab where I was trying to understand algorithms for my masters degree with no hope! till I gave up completing my thesis.
But in every down I got, and wherever I be in the world, I used to find GDGs and WTMs chapters everywhere with the same awesome mission of supporting Tech communities in general and women in Tech especially!
These communities, I joined at all the journey, were one of the main reasons why I am still working in the field till now, and still able to elevate and promote myself from position to another with higher qualifications; Their regular meetups made me always look up for role models I want to be, and that helped me to thrive in Tech!
Late 2018, I Arrived New Brunswick, a beautiful Atlantic Canadian Province, where I didn’t find any GDG or WTM chapter opened yet! What ???
So I didn’t hesitate to establish both and give back to my community some of the great support I got from them in the last decade; In the following year 2019, we inspired few neighbour cities to establish their chapters too!
So here we are : GDG Cloud Fredericton as part of the Greatest North America Region

Now I am a Senior Programmer Analyst at Canadian Provincial Government -Government of New Brunswick- in the Digital Transformation Team, where everyday learning and discovering in the journey of Transformation; Also I got featured few times in press due to the work I am putting to the community, check few articles out:
