Reasons Why The Work From Home Routine Can Be Disastrous
It makes it VERY hard to distinguish your personal life from your professional life.
While I love the flexibility of having the chance to work from home. But I realized there is so much that is dangerous from it.
Psychologically, sometimes it seems to be doing more harm than good.
I’m saying this as I’m currently stuck at work till almost 11 PM because of remote work.
There are many pros to working from home, one major one is that we don’t have to commute to work.
The big con about working from home is one that a lot of people seem to ignore: it blurs the lines between your personal lives and professional lives.
It’s been confirmed that we’re all working longer hours than we would at an office. Part of the reason salaried jobs don’t pay you hourly is that they would be forced to pay you more for working overtime alone.
I’m personally against a 9–5 in general seeing as we don’t tend to stay productive that long as we’re wasting our lives just working these jobs that don’t really provide us with a quality of life. In my opinion, I think a 9–3 would work best and would go along with what most people desire. It would give parents a chance to pick up their children from school or just even enjoy a little more sunlight.
One good thing France did was make it illegal to contact workers outside of work hours. For our mental health’s sake, we need to be able to disconnect and be able to live life outside of work.
Work will always be here but we’re always going to be replaceable in the workforce.
It’s with that, that we should all start trying to prioritize our mental health and companies should do the same because they’d get a better return on investment in terms of having more “productive” employees.
