Dealing with Fear

Photo by Olya Kuzovkina on Unsplash

It lies deep, we’re unwilling, But it is willing, mockingly so. It comes crawling out of the darkness, Hideous, into the greyer area of our minds, And so we acknowledge it not.

Pushing vigorously yet so feebly, Once it’s in it never goes away, Nestling in our troublesome self. We give it time to mature Until it plays with untold strength, A pulsating horror we flee from Creating fear within us.

The longer ignored The more intense it’s growth, Becoming a living entity Of which we have no control, Our fate may become its destiny.

Ripping into our inner selves taking hold Entering from the inside out, Leaving us not quite sure of our stability.

Treading the careful line, A line which appears firm Steadying our confidence, Until the violent shaking of our being Spreads unto the shaking of our soul.

So why not take hold from the start? A confrontation of our fear. Grab the root and cultivate into Something manageable, Understand it, but never lay bare underestimation.
