Reading the Bible in Sixty Days — 3 Ways It Has Changed Me
Three ways reading God’s Word has changed me.
About three weeks ago, I felt convicted to read through the entire Bible in sixty days after I came across two videos in one day.
The first one challenged Christians to treat our Bible the same way we treat our phone (eg. take it everywhere we go, check it when we have nothing to do, look to it for answers when we have questions or when we are in a difficult situation, etc.).
In the second one, a girl who has been saved for three years and has not yet read the entire Bible spoke about how convicting it was that a friend of hers who was saved only six months ago had already read through the Bible multiple times.
I grew up in a Christian home and chose to follow Jesus over three years ago, but I also have not read the entire Bible. Why is it so easy to be apathetic towards God’s Word?
These two videos, along with my desire to go deeper with God, and a sense of urgency I have been feeling lately due to the state of Babylon America, inspired and convicted me to read through the whole Bible in sixty days.

The following are three ways it has changed me so far.
I am experiencing extreme peace.
Things that would usually make me anxious or frustrated are not bothering me at all–not even the slightest twinge of anxiety. I thought I felt peace before, but it was nothing compared to what I am experiencing now. I feel joyful, content, and equipped to handle anything that comes my way.
The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. -Psalm 29:11
My faith is growing stronger.
It is hard to read about all that God did for the Israelites (delivered them from Egypt, protected and provided for them in the wilderness, conquered their enemies, led them into the Promised Land, etc.) and not be stirred up in faith. Any problems I might have in my own life are nothing compared to what the Israelites went through. My God is all-powerful, His love is unfailing, and nothing is impossible for Him.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
I am praying a lot more.
Reading God’s Word so much in these last three weeks has kept Him and my awareness of His presence at the front of my mind. When I have a free moment during the day, and I am not using it to read the Bible, I naturally begin to talk to Him. I love going over what I have read that day or expressing my awe and gratitude for how amazing He is. I am getting to know God on another level simply by reading His Word (funny how that works!).
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. -Psalm 42:8
I am so glad I started this journey and cannot wait to see where it takes me.
Have you, or do you plan to, read the entire Bible? How has God’s Word changed you?
