Reading Rhombus Submissions Guidelines
If you don’t read them carefully before submitting, your work won’t be published here.
Call for Submissions
We are seeking very specific stories — stories that include embedded links to other Medium writers’ works, in addition to your own writing. To embed a link to a story published on Medium, simply paste the URL onto a line by itself. These embedded stories should:
- Highlight the work of four different Medium writers; and,
- Touch on a single topic from four different perspectives; or,
- Touch on four different topics; and
- Must not all appear in a single publication.
You should include your own thoughts, a story, or a poem on the topic(s) and tell readers why you are recommending the stories you’ve chosen to include.

Additional Requirements
- We will not publish erotica, graphic or obscene material, or writing that contains copious amounts of profanity. We are not interested in stories that are merely commercial promotions of any business off-site, or stories that promote any activities of a questionable ethical or legal nature.
- Your story must be free from calls to action, newsletter sign-ups, affiliate links, and external-to-Medium URLs.
- You may include a brief, personal biography at the end of your story, and this may include one link — to an extended bio on Medium (preferred); a recent Story of yours published on Medium; your own publication; a personal website; or a free newsletter sign-up (e.g., a Substack newsletter that does not require a paid subscription). Please use a separator between this and the last paragraph of your story.
- Please include a photo (as described in Medium’s rules) and be sure it includes a photo credit.
- Please proofread, grammar-check, and fact-check your work before submitting it here. You may wish to run your story through a free editor like Hemingway, Grammarly, or ProWritingAid. We reserve the right, but do not accept the obligation, to proofread and correct spelling, grammar, or obvious factual errors. Poorly written work, or failure to make requested changes, will result in rejection.
- Tag your story appropriately. One of your tags should be Reading Rhombus. Be sure to take advantage of all 5 tags in your story. Here are some tags we often use, and you should include at least one of these, as well: Creativity, Diversity, Education, Life Lessons, and Reading (the latter being appropriate for the “Recommended Reading” section — for example, links to book reviews, simple recommendations of other Medium authors, etc.)
- You must have a Medium account to submit (it’s free to join). If you want to earn money from your story, sign up for Medium’s partner program (it’s free) and make sure your story is behind the paywall.
- Leave a comment on this Story to request being added as a writer here. Once you’ve been added as a writer, please submit directly through Medium.
