ALL THE FREAKING STARS IN THE UNIVERSE!!!

Dragon riders , military school, enemies to lovers and a fantasy romance! Obsessed doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about this book. I haven’t been captivated by a book this completely in a long time. Rebecca Yarros has outdone herself in her fantasy debut!

Violet Sorrengail always believe she would follow in her father’s footsteps, and become a scribe. However, her mother the General of the Basgiath War College, insists that Violet becomes a. dragon rider, like her siblings. She was born with some physical limitations and chronic conditions. Does this stop her from being the baddest bitch this kingdom has ever seen? Absolutely not !! The stakes are high in the Riders Quadrant for everyone, all the time. Violence and death are almost a daily occurrence.

“But I will not run. I wouldn’t be standing here if I’d quit every time something seemed impossible to overcome. I will not die today.”

Violet’s mother was the general who ended the Navarre’s last rebellion, putting all the traitors to death. And although the rebels’ children were spared, they were also forced into military service. They go through a series of death defying training exercises in the hopes that after their first year, they will bond with a dragon and become their rider. Dragons don’t respect weakness and incinerate the weak. The dragons in the story are so perfect!

Being a Sorrengail doesn’t do Violet any favors in the Riders Quadrant, many of her classmates are out for her blood. Especially, Xaden Riorson, the son of a traitor who is out for revenge on Violet whose mother led to his father’s death . This man has easily become one of my top book boyfriends of all time!

“I’m going to keep you. You’re mine, Violet.”

“Only if you’re mine.”

“I’ve been yours for longer than you could ever imagine.”

This is a slow burn romance, and I ate it up.

Every interaction they have that leads up to them becoming lovers, literally wants to make you explode. They’re dialogue is so good. There is so much tension and longing. Their chemistry.. oh god their chemistry, it was so intoxicating !! The enemies aspect of this book was so satisfying, I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM.

This book is over 500 pages, and every page matters. There is not a single boring part. Everything written has a purpose. The world building is phenomenal. It is fast paced, and it will have you craving more.

And of course, there is also betrayals and lies and big BIG twists! This book is easily going to be in the top list of books I’ve read in 2023. I read this via audiobook while on a bus, and I’m pretty sure that everyone around me that I was crazy because I was full on sobbing by the end of it.

You know when you finish a book, and it leaves an ache in your chest because it was so good, and now it’s over? Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel after finishing Fourth Wing.

Thank you for reading and supporting me. I appreciate you 🤍
