Ramble
A Poem
From now on maybe my poems
will ramble they will stretch
for miles and miles taking up the scenery and space.
They seem to feel like someone has told them something about
longer is best, more means automatically quality
and the heart of the matter, the point, the purpose, is something that only
exists at the end of a long trail,
a winding road of words words more words —
but did I mention I’m not really the rambling kind?
Did I mention I know your mind and mine
tend to take it all in in spurts of wisdom, moments of
brief inspiration, hits of quick motivation,
and the thing that we take in most is
connection across a scrolling flipping searching
rolling rambling screen — we take what we can get
maybe breathe maybe smile a bit, and then it’s off to click and scroll
and search again for the next brief big thing in
the daily journey the online intellectual grind
reaching and grabbing for a small moment
with you, in real time.
