Raise Your Hands For The ‘Be Weird’ Revolution

You have to drink 3.75 litres of water in one go…

Everyone has an iPhone, everyone has an Instagram, a Facebook account, everyone loves to talk about the other. It is just the way the world works.

So I decided to not buy an iPhone, deactivate my Instagram account and not engage in the affairs of the other person just for the sake of it.

Why?

Because everyone else is doing it.

Why must there be a logical reason?

I don’t care whether you are among those ‘iPhone is better than Android’ people. If you spark a debate I’ll let you win.

I don’t use an Android phone because it is better, but because the majority don’t.

I want to be different from the rest.

F*ck being normal!

Why not be weird?

Being normal is boring. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

When everyone is doing or can do something, what more can you contribute.

Nothing.

I would rather be the odd one out than stick with the crowd.

Everyone thinks before writing? F*ck that!

Everyone wants to go out on the weekend? F*ck that!

Everyone knows what they want in their 20s? F*ck that!

Sticking with the crowd gives a very ‘I am not in charge’ vibe. I don’t like that.

I have done it. It makes me leave with a tad guilty feeling for whatever reason. As if I lied to myself.

Experience different things, do stupid things, why be serious at all?

Why not embarrass yourself?

When people call you weird, why be offended? Smile and yell ‘Thank you!”

It takes courage to be different

Being different is no cakewalk. Although it can be. If you are a psychopath, in which case I applaud you.

People’s comments hurt you, they make you question things and sometimes even doubt yourself.

But what is the point of living if there is no challenge at all?

Anyone can join a crowd. It has no barrier.

But how many people can drink 3.75 litres of water in a go, knowing they will vomit afterwards? I know at least one!

(Please don’t try it, I don’t know what I was thinking)

It makes you the eccentric, odd one out.

You can’t replace the odd one out.

People who are the same can be replaced, there is a gazillion of them.

The odd one adds something the rest can’t. They have the X factor. Give them the award already!

Are you the odd one out?

Congrats then!

While we are not in the majority, there is definitely a fair share of us. Typically one in every group.

Everyone has a different opinion of them but that makes them the best!

Ironically, they don’t care about the norms but the odd ones are those who make the norms.

Why be average? Either be at the upper-end or the lower-end. Preach being on the extreme!

Either be totally loved or totally hated. The centre creates doubts, let everything be straight as an arrow!

If you are not the odd one, then what are you waiting for? Hop on board! Accept your true mad self!

Embrace your eccentricities, it will make people laugh and enjoy being around you and if they don’t you will be proud of yourself.

Why not start a ‘be weird’ revolution. Life is too short to stick by the majority.

Eat breakfast at night, sleep during the day, laugh during silences, be quiet when being talked to, play chess at the gym, yell in libraries, and pee outside the washroom (don’t do that either)!
