Summary

The web content describes a rainy day exploration and personal errands in Ohio by a retired couple living in an RV, highlighting their visit to a newly legal marijuana dispensary, the challenge of obtaining a new step motor for their RV, and the author's passion for photography, particularly of barns and old buildings.

Abstract

On a wet Ohio day, the author and their partner ventured out from their RV for a day of exploration and errands. They enjoyed a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant, transferred prescriptions, and ordered new glasses at Walmart, reflecting on the loss of vision insurance since retiring. They encountered Ohio's newly legal recreational cannabis dispensary, noting the change in law since they last visited the state. The couple also dealt with RV maintenance issues at Camping World, where they learned they needed a new step unit. Despite the rain, the author took the opportunity to photograph the distinctive barns of Ohio, sharing their appreciation for the state's architecture and the character of old buildings. The day concluded with the author enjoying the sight of robins foraging in the wet conditions, emphasizing the simple pleasures of their RV lifestyle and the joy of documenting their travels through photography.

Rainy Days and Day Trips

RV Living in Ohio

It was raining when we woke up. Today was one of those days where we just wanted to get out of the camper and go exploring.

The day started with breakfast at one of our favorite local restaurants called the Orchard Tree. Eggs over easy with hash browns, bacon, toast, and coffee for only $8.99. It’s nice when they include the price of coffee in with the meal.

From there we headed to the local Walmart to pick up prescriptions and order me a new pair of glasses. Every time we move we have to transfer the prescriptions from wherever we were last month, in this case, southern Alabama.

When we retired and became full-time RVers we lost our vision insurance so I hadn’t been to the eye doctor in over two years. An eye appointment at Walmart was $75. That was cheaper than the doctor I used to go to.

Glasses for my “blind” eyes came to almost $500.00. No wonder I haven’t gotten new ones in about four years. Sometimes I miss the wonderful factory insurance we used to have. We were blessed for many years with great insurance.

We saw our very first Marijuana dispensary in Ohio today. We left Ohio at the end of October and it became legal while we were gone. This dispensary is in Piqua, Ohio north of Dayton.

Rich wanted to go to Camping World in Piqua, Ohio. He is struggling to find a replacement motor for the steps in the Newmar RV. They told Rich he would have to buy a whole new step unit. We didn’t even ask for a price.

It was not a wasted trip though. We drove through some back roads and found a few cool barns to take pictures of. Ohio is known for its barns. As we have traveled around the states, we just don’t see the amount of barns like we do in Ohio.

We didn’t see as many red barns today as usual. Most of them were white.

I love taking photos of old buildings. They just have so much character.

All barn photos were taken by me.

It rained off and on most of the day. When we got home I was able to walk around outside for just a few minutes to see if there were any birds around. They tend to hunker down when it's raining. All except the Robins. The Robins know that the worms come up when the ground is wet.

It’s always nice to go for short day trips. We love seeing the country and I love taking pictures of it. Hope you enjoyed the story. Thanks for letting me share my day with you.
