Rainy Days
Learning to Appreciate the Rain
How many times have I regretted the rains when they came,
So many plans I had to set aside, it was often such a bumpy ride,
But after the rains came the sweet smell of spring, nothing was the same,
And in everything life, the rain must fall and so the poets like to consider,
And we disdain the pain of remembering the flood from so long ago.
I often think there is cell memory; messages carried within our DNA,
From those who came before us from the lessons that were forced to learn.
Is there hidden in our memory the impression of a distant day,
The memory of the rains, which have washed away and others flow.
I always liked the smell of grass after a rain, bright sunshine,
Watching birds fly, and butterflies, the joy that comes and sings sunshine,
Running through a rain-drenched field.
The memories of the rains that delayed our best-laid plans.
I always liked the smell of grass after a rain, watching birds fly,
All the beauty that passes my eye,
But then again comes rain, and the feeling of being stuck inside.
Though there have been many times that I like the rain and wind
When it is a catharsis and a sense of healing with a deeper meaning.
I’ve learned to accept whatever this life sends to accept the ends.
Growth has never been an easy virtue. It comes with sacrifices,
And at every turn, but without the rains, our forest burns.
Our thoughts go dry. The children cry.
God sends the rains to cleanse the earth.
We shall learn to accept the cleaning. To learn what it’s worth.
Today came the rains, tomorrow the sun, and then come to the winds.
Everything is still. Let us learn to move with the weather.
Cut ourselves from the tether and fly like a kite after a storm,
In a time where on earth where we’re learning to change.
And yes, the earth is thirsty and then is satisfied.
All of us, no matter what happens, should learn to accept
And learn to enjoy the ride.
