Rain Brings Change

Subtle Transformation

Photo by Mike Kotsch on Unsplash

When I was a kid, I walked to the bus stop for 20 minutes every day. On the days when it rained, I didn’t wait for the rain to stop. Instead, I ran.

I ran all the way home, soaking wet, but I never caught a cold.

The feeling of running in the rain when the rain hits you. Then it pours down, and before you know it, you are socking wet but still running.

I loved that feeling; it felt adventurous. I didn’t enjoy my mom's yelling, which followed, but It was worth it.

I still feel happy when I can feel raindrops on my skin. I don’t go and get soaking wet anymore, but I feel joyous when it rains.

There is something profoundly relaxing about the sound of the rain and the way it falls to the ground when I cannot quite comprehend it in words.

Especially when it rains at night, I can sleep instantaneously. There is a certain sense of serenity to it. It brings that warm, fuzzy feeling I used to get when watching my favourite cartoon or television show as a kid.

For me, rain helps me connect with my inner self more. It helps me get close to my inner peace and calmness.

Transformation and Rain

Not all moments were beautiful in my 26 years of existence on this beautiful planet.

Some of them were dark rainy nights with thunderstorms.

Sometimes these cloudy skies were my thoughts. However, thoughts are like clouds; once it's raining, you will find the bright blue sky with the sun again.

I love how behind every dark rainy cloud lies a beautiful blue sky with a bright sun.

Rain also symbolizes transformation and change. It's the beginning of something new.

In Nepal, June is when it rains, and farmers start to plant rice during the month. Hence, this time is often celebrated because it's finally the time of the year to plant rice, the traditional primary food.

Rain brings growth, prosperity and transformation. Perhaps, that is also the reason why while it rains, it often makes me feel safe.

It helps me connect with mother nature when she whispers, “It's time to grow.” through her actions.

Rain and Balding

However, over the years, I realized my hair usually falls off during rainy seasons. Now, I never actually went to a doctor for a checkup, but for some reason, whenever it rains, my hair starts to fall.

So, I also lost a lot of my hair and started to get bald.

I don’t want to blame Rain, but I think I do deep in my heart.

Hence, I feel a little worried whenever it rains. I worry that my hair might start to fall off again.

I think to myself, “It’s the time of the year when my hair starts to fall out again.”

Conclusion

I feel blessed to have lived in a place where Rain is celebrated.

Rain and growth go hand in hand for me. It enables me to feel calm and safe. I love both of them, the sound of the Rain and the Smell of Rain.

Rain fills my heart with joy and, most importantly, reminds me nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain.

Eventually, dark clouds fall as rain brings the beautiful sun to life.
